My long Thanksgiving break is winding down and though this space has been pretty silent lately, I have so much to be thankful for. Over the next few weeks, as the year winds down, I'll try to catch you up on my fall marathon. Let's start with these beautiful girls from September. You'll recognize some of these shots as I posted them on Facebook; however, when they are this gorgeous, I think they are worth repeating. The best expressions are usually the ones you aren't planning on. I wish we were still out playing in that amazing sunshine. I laugh now because I remember we thought it was chilly that day and I'm typing this with a thick blanket wrapped around my shoulders. With their beautiful mom.

Confession time. I maybe screamed like a little fan girl when this guy stepped on stage last night. I heart Chris Young. I haven't started doodling his name in my notebook yet, but I did get a little click-happy with my camera. We zipped down to the Bloomsburg Fair after work yesterday for the show. Perfect weather, perfect night. Saving the best for last. I skimmed through my shots when I got home and posted this one on facebook around midnight. After going through them all today it remains my favorite.
The other day I had a dream (more like nightmare) that I had reformatted one of my CF cards before loading the images on my computer. Thank goodness it was only a dream and thank goodness it wasn't this session! I had so much fun hanging out at Skyview Drags with Matt and his dad for this senior session. It was his dad's idea to use Matt's class year on his dragster. I loved it. Matt's pretty quiet and didn't say much, but I think he thought this idea was corny so we changed it back to his regular racing number later in the evening. Matt plans to continue racing and to study Motorsports after high school. I can't wait to be able to say "I knew him when..." We've got a deal: when he becomes a famous racer, I get to follow the team around and be his official photographer. Best wishes, Matt! Can't wait to see you with a big smile on your face in victory lane!
I love this family. And not just 'cause they feed me when I come to visit! Their little family of three is now four. This girl is still pretty good at stealing the show, though. Can't wait to watch this little man grow. Aren't they beautiful?
Let's all pretend I didn't miss the whole month of August here and just look at some pretty pictures, mmmmkay? Okay, good plan. These gorgeous shots were from my July wedding overlooking Seneca Lake. The dancing lasted well into the night. Mr. Robot-o! So thankful for the help of Ms. Stephanie as my assistant for the day. You'll see her featured in her own bridal shots coming this October!
All my best to Norah and John... Congratulations! The 139th Troy Fair has drawn to a close. Here's a wrap up of the week from the ribbon cutting to the last spin around the midway. More importantly, in this post, you'll find the name of #myfairadventure grand-prize winner! Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any wool? Yes, sir. Yes, sir ... uhmm... two bags full. LOVED this guy's Canon. Delicious peach shortcake, as always. Was there something else I was supposed to mention...? OH, yes! Caytlyn Nichols, you're the TOP! Thanks for tweeting, liking, loving and sharing #myfairadventure contest all over social media and tracking me down at the fairgrounds. You blew everyone else out of the water and you can claim the grand prize. Contact me to set the session of your choice. Thanks to all who participated. I do so love to give away prizes! Join me again next year for more fair adventure fun.
I've been posting fair photos here, there and everywhere this week. Here are some of my favorites from tonight. Having fun playing with shutter speeds. A lot of similar shots, so we'll call these: Variations on a Fair Theme. I wouldn't have been able to get these shots without the help of family. Thanks to Uncle Tom for backing his truck up to the fence so I could climb up higher and get a bird's eye view. Thanks to Kelly for keeping me company in the dark! Don't forget to join my fair adventure contest! Keep scrolling down for information in my last post. And to close, a couple favorites from the concert which I posted on my personal Facebook page last night. Big and Rich are definite showmen!
It’s fair time! I’ve got my tickets. Do you have yours? I’m excited to begin my third annual fair adventure, which means fun for me and freebies for you!
The rules are pretty much the same, but I’m adding a twist this year. The fair adventure begins next week at the 139th annual Troy Fair. I’ll be handing out a prize (coupon for half off any* session you choose) to one lucky winner per day. The fun part is, you have to find me at the right time and place to claim the prize. No gate stalking! How will you find me? I’ll be posting little clues here and there all week and, if you follow me on Twitter, there will be real-time hints and status updates on my location every night. Once I stake out my locale, I’ll tweet a 10-minute time frame in which you may snag your prize. After that, if no one has found me, I’ll be moving on to the next clue. And the twist? I’ll also be hiding some prizes around the fairgrounds for you to find. Watch my Instagram feed for some video clues to their locations. I might even try that Vine thing again, but since I’ve only posted one vine in the last year… I’m thinking you might want to save the effort. (Untapped potential in my efforts to keep afloat with various forms of social media... Note to self: work on that soon.) Let’s generate some excitement for this adventure! Help me spread the word and you can earn a chance at the grand prize: A session* of your choice, totally FREE! How can you help? I’m so glad you asked: 1. earn a point when you “like” CLG on Facebook (already like me? Great! You have a point already... just leave a comment on the sidebar to the right to let me know) 2. earn a point for sharing a link to this blog post on your Facebook timeline (share the link where you did so in the comments below) 3. earn a point every time you “like” a status update on the contest posted on my timeline 4. earn 5 points when you start following @clg_photos on Twitter and another 5 for clg_photos on Instagram, and then 5. earn a point every time you retweet a #myfairadventure update or love a posted “gram” The person with the most points at the end of fair week wins. It’s that simple. *weddings are excluded, everything else is fair game... pun intended :) This past weekend I photographed a wedding at the lake but a few weeks before that, I was honored to be at the wedding of good friends at another beautiful outdoor venue, the Grovedale Winery in Wyalusing, PA. I met Ed when I started my first job out of college many moons ago. He is a fabulous photographer, so it was a little scary agreeing to come with my camera. Couldn't resist giving this unexpected guest his (her?) moment in the spotlight. Beautiful setting, beautiful people. Best wishes you two!
It was a wonderful weekend to be in Grove City last week. A little bit of shopping and a whole lot of fun at the wedding of Ariana and Ben. Getting ready with the ladies. And getting ready with the gentlemen. A lovely moment of prayer above and marking favorite scripture below. Ben's first look at the beautiful bride. A moment of levity with a snug-fitting ring and their happy exit. Delicious cake (they were pretty nice to each other) and dancing. Love the joy on their faces! Be sure to leave some best wishes for the bride and groom.
